Katyayani began with a decision that made the early years harder than they needed to be. We decided to manufacture.

The easier route in this industry is to source formulations from a third party, print your label on them and build a brand on distribution and marketing. What it does not let you do is stand behind what is inside the container, because you did not make it and you cannot test it.

So the first substantial investment went into a formulation plant at Pipalkheria Industrial Area in Raisen district, commissioned in 2017, with a second line added the same year. The facility now runs across 3.9 acres with 35,000 square feet of storage and a capacity of 25 tonnes a day.

The second decision followed from the first. We built an analytical laboratory inside the plant rather than outsourcing testing. It is accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories, and no batch is dispatched before it clears. Any batch number can be traced back to its certificate of analysis.

Everything the company has built since — the distribution network, the export business, the direct channel — sits on those two decisions. You cannot guarantee a product you did not manufacture, and you cannot prove one without a laboratory.
