Red Pumpkin Beetle in Watermelon

SYMPTOMS

Bright red-orange beetles with black spots chew large, irregular holes in watermelon leaves, cotyledons, and tender shoots, causing rapid defoliation. Young plants are particularly vulnerable and can be completely defoliated, while larvae feed on roots and stems underground.
